With its historic abbey, the Church of the Assumption, fascinating exhibitions and the summer theatre in the romantic arcaded courtyard, Eberndorf is regarded as one of the cultural centres of Southern Carinthia.
This is coupled with unspoiled nature, such as the Sablatnigmoor nature conservation area and Lake Gösselsdorfer See. On guided tours of the Sablatnigmoor, which covers 100 hectares, visitors have an opportunity of exploring the kingdom of 170 different species of birds, amphibians, insects and rare plant species. Lake Gösselsdorfer See, with its water that contains the calamus plant, is also inside the nature conservation area and is the perfect place for relaxation and refreshment in summer.
Once a year in Eberndorf everything revolves around sausages, or to be more precise the Jaun Valley salami and selecting the salami princess. The Salami Festival in the abbey courtyard is a firm component and absolute high point of the summer programme.
