Hiking through idyllic natural surroundings, playing tennis, cycling, riding and horse-drawn carriage rides, fishing and much more – that’s what a restorative holiday in Metnitz looks like.

In winter too there is no reason to get bored: choose from guided winter and torchlit hikes, deer stalking and feeding wildlife with experienced hunters, tobogganing, traditional curling, ice skating, ski touring and downhill skiing in the nearby Flattnitz and Hochrindl winter sports regions.
Traditional customs are kept alive in Metnitz. The famous Metnitz dance of death is a particular custom which is cultivated hardly anywhere else in such variety. It includes a cycle of frescoes, an ossuary with a copy of frescoes, a death ship, and a folk play presented by amateur actors and a chorus, which deals with the fact that everyone is equal before Death and is staged every three years.
