The holiday paradise Hohe Tauern – die Nationalpark Region in Kärnten stretches out at the foot of the Grossglockner, the highest mountain in Austria.
A few courageous men first climbed to the summit of the Grossglockner in 1800. The Hohe Tauern National Park was founded in 1981, and covers an area of 1,836 square kilometres. Its extensive glacier fields, valleys formed during the Ice Age and fascinating flora and fauna make it one of the most mysterious settings in Austria.
Expansive glaciers, steep flanks, green mountain lakes, impressive waterfalls and in between a dense network of hiking routes and mountain paths – these are just waiting to be tackled and experienced by you.
After the eternal ice on the glaciers and firn fields of the Hohe Tauern are melted by the sun, and the mountain lakes become too full, the water makes its way into the valley.
Adventure-packed excursions in the Hohe Tauern National Park. Every year, thanks to their enthusiasm, authenticity and their extensive knowledge of the natural surroundings, the National Park Rangers in the Hohe Tauern inspire thousands of holiday-makers and visitors.
